A friend of mine received an Overpayment Check Scam:

Hello good afternoon, i am happy to inform you that the payment will
deliver tomorrow through USPS here is the tracking number
(CLIPPED) you can check it out your self on
http:/ /www.usps.com and i am sorry for not getting back to you sooner with
the tracking number, i was busy with the burial ceremony
arrangement.so i want you to act according to my mail

I told you initially that the movers fee will be included in the
payment, the overpayment is meant to cover the cost of shipment for
the item alongside my other properties including tax and insurance.

Please i want you to make sure you have the check deposit as well for
24 hours clearing because all our check always clear after 24 hours
and also you can deposit through your ATM or Mobile deposit and go
ahead and withdraw the fund following day then deduct your money for
the item and make the rest fund available to the movers through Money
gram or wal-mart wire transfer at any of their outlets near you and
get back to me with the money transfer details gotten after sending
the funds (as it appears on the receipt) so that i can forward to the
movers for confirmation of payment and they can schedule for the
pick-up at your location .... Deduct the transfer charges from my
money and also $50 for yourself (meant for Honest and hassle).

Hello,
Sorry to not get back you sooner i lost my granddad, and i am the
oldest person among others, so therefore im responsible for all the
burial arrangement, i got your information, please i want you to
remove the item from sales list because I'm going to mail the check
out on Monday and i will get back to you with the tracking # asap so
that you will know when to expect it. And am also going to include the
mover funds that will come down for pick up along with your payment.
So when you receive the check get your item fee and the rest goes to
the mover? so the pickup can take place. Let me read from you if am to
proceed with you or not,please respond asap .Thank You

Thank you Blessing Kelly. I searched the email address you posted because this person reached out to me on a craigslist by text but wanted to only communicate by email. I knew it was a scam. Then I searched and saw what you wrote and was like that little bi :$&!!! Craigslist is a feeding ground for scams. Second one in a week. They are people out of town that will send you checks that will bounce. Always do cash only. What a sleaze. Her address is : alyssacy3@gmail.com BEWARE OF THIS EMAIL EVERYONE.

I'm glad you found our information before losing any money. Please drop all contact with the scammer. Please do not confront them and tell them you know they are a scammer. Do not send them a link to the information here as they will just abandon the E-mail address, open a new one that isn't posted and never skip a beat.

Can you forward your E-mail correspondences to me? I'd like to post as much of the scammer's information as possible.

Be careful of any E-mails from out of the blue sent by people you do not know. The scammer will more than likely try to lure you into a "recovery scam"
