Posted on behalf of the targeted victim.

The scammers are targeting art galleries in Europe and wordwide. Under the pretense of buying art work, the scammers are sending over-payments on fake checks, asking the victims to cash the fake check and send back the difference using wireless transfer systems services.
The name and the email address they are using changes, but the initial message is always the same:

Greetings! My name is Steven Rudy from United Kingdom. I
Actually Observed
my wife has-been viewing your website on my laptop and i
guess she likes
your piece of work. I'm impressed and amazed as well to-have
seen your various
works too, You are doing a great job. I would like to
buy one of your
artwork available at range of € 100 to € 5000 and ready
for sale
. Also, my method of payment is
by Bank Check
as mode of Payment. Thanks and best regards.

You should stop all contact with the scammer.
Do not tell them you know they are scammers.
Do not send them to this website.

Then be careful of any new contact from anyone you do not know because the scammers often try again.

Is there any more information about the scam you can post here?
E-mails, E-mail addresses, Photographs and fake documents, Phone numbers, & places you were asked to send money are all helpful.
