The Dump - "Whatif?" Questions Have Answers Here

Moderator Note: Please read.

This topic is for posts made in the "closure" topic or some other place where they do not belong and were moved here.

recovery and reassurance
http://scamsurvivors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4509

recovery and reassurance topic is NOT to be used for first time posters asking questions on what to do if blackmail scammed, nor to ask "Whatif??!!" questions already covered on the site.
It is a topic about how to recover from the scam ONLY.

All first time blackmailed visitors need to go to the main topic. http://blackmailscams.com.
If it is not too much to ask, READ and then DO ALL THE STEPS, then READ FIRST WHY IT WORKS ON THE FORUM.
99.99% of your questions are answered at the above link and also in the readme first topic here:
Online blackmail. Read this first.
http://www.scamsurvivors.com/forum/view ... f=20&t=580

If English is not your first language, I suggest using Google Translate to read the links posted here.
https://translate.google.com/

Or, if you speak Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, or French, there is an older condensed version of the "Online blackmail. Read this first." here: Online blackmail. Read this first - translated. http://scamsurvivors.com/forum/viewtopi ... =20&t=8267

If you are looking for answers not found there, I suggest that you use the main link, http://www.scamsurvivors.com/forum/view ... f=20&t=580 and Goggle Translate to find your answer.

If you feel compelled to ask the question anyway, post it here. Note: Your question may not be answered by staff in this topic. However, I invite any survivor who has gone through the entire process to answer any new posts from new members.

Do not do it in Closure or it will be dumped here and may be unanswered by staff if it is already answered in the two topics above.

All the questions in the below posts are already answered, many multiple times on our forum.
The answers can be found in our Announcements Section, page 3 of the blackmail advice steps after filling the form, or the "Stickies." Stickies are the top topics having "light bulb" symbols in front of them.

Please save the small staff some time. Reading is not a crime.
Read first, DO ALL, Read more, then ask only when necessary.
Relax. You have done all that you can do, didn't you? That was the second step, DO ALL. << You didn't? Go back and finish.
Ok now, Think it over first with a nice bubbling hot cup of coffee.

Want some quick relief from the whatifs?? and want to know why the steps in blackmailscams.com work and why each one is important?

Check out these three links to help you deal with the aftermath of the scam and to understand it better.

After your scammer is long gone and you have stopped Googling yourself manually every day for non-existent videos, feel free to let other members know how you dealt with the aftermath in the Closure topic.
But before doing that, make sure that you are past this Whatif? and have totally rejected the fantasy...

Will my video suddenly appear out of the blue months or years later?

I'll answer your question this way. These things have a higher chance of occurring than your scammer returning, and I expect you also mean you are thinking that the scammer has your video and will post it, and your life will be miserable until eternity becomes nothing.....
1. You will be eaten by a land shark while walking arm and arm with Lady Gaga.
2. You will be struck by an asteroid, directly in the forehead, and nobody else will die but you.
3. The Irish will give up beer and whiskey completely, and nobody will drink in the entire country, EVER AGAIN.

To the webcam blackmailed for money survivors only:
If you entertain one more "what if?" question about your scam after reading all the links and listening to the two podcast links about blackmail posted above, you are hereby sentenced to listen to every ScamSurvivors podcast until you cheer up. Your scam pales in comparison to what others have suffered through, and they whine 1:1000th of the amount that you do.

YES, WE KNOW….

Yes, they recorded your video. That’s how the scam works.

Yes, they threatened to send it to everyone. Again, it’s how the scam works.

Yes, we have seen cases like this before. Thousands of them in fact. It’s very rare someone is able to tell us something new the scammer did.

Yes, they showed you a list of your friends and family from your Facebook profile. That’s part and parcel of the scam.

Yes, they threatened to post it if you blocked them.

Yes, we get that you’re afraid to block them just in case. It’s still essential you do it.

Yes, we’ve seen cases like yours thousands of times before. Believe me, we know exactly how this scam works.

Yes you can get the video removed if they do post it. In fact, Youtube usually removes them in less than 5 minutes when reported.

Yes, our steps really do work in over 99.95% of the cases we’ve dealt with.

Yes, you REALLY do have to deactivate Facebook for at least 4 weeks.

Yes, REALLY! Keep it closed.

Yes, it is essential you don’t “take a peep” in case the scammer has posted anything. We wouldn’t say it otherwise

Yes, they may try to contact you for a short while. Ignore them. They’ll go away.

Yes, paying them is a bad idea. They’ll just come back demanding more.

Yes, technically they could. However they don’t. That’s a cover all answer for the “what if” questions we get.

Yes, they will delete the video. It’s too risky to keep a hold of it.

Yes, you can contact the police about it. In fact, we’d always recommend you do.

Does that cover it?

We just show you the way, but you are the one doing the steps.
The life after a scam is always a new beginning, with yourself trying to find out what was wrong to put you in the situation to be scammed. Looking inside yourself helps you to decide who you want to be for real. Most of the victims become stronger after one experience like this one, being completely honest with themselves and accepting that the real life is different to the one we are dreaming about. Dream or nightmare, it will be over sooner or later. Important thing is that we all have a tomorrow and is up to us how we face it: as victims or as survivors.

Victim of webcam sextortion

Unread postby Ryandale00 » Thu Mar 30, 2017 8:42 am

I made a video with an ex girlfriend 2 years ago and now someone from the Philippines is threatening that he/she is going to send it to my family and friends if I don't send her $300. I have already sent $200 and she's asking for the other $100 now. Iv followed all of the steps and filled out the form but when I hit submit it just brings me back to the original blank form. Please help.

Ryandale00,

Does your ex-girlfiend know of the existence of this video and consent to the taping?

How did the scammer get ahold of the video? Did you show it to them or send it in chat or give them any link to it? Did you upload it to some website account of yours?

Everything went fine till last week, after 2,5 months of no contact. (Maybe because i paid in the beginning).(stupid)
I started a new fb account a got called last week, didnt answer, blocked nr and deactivated the new account.
It set me way back in the recovery, unfortunately. I thought it would be safe.
Nothing happened yet as far as i know, Hopefully this was it and he will leave me alone.
I will keep fb longer closed now, i hope i didnt increase the chance of publishment.
Thank you for the support of this website, i pulls me trought this horrible period.

We answered the same questions of yours over a month ago, Triple.

That call may not even have been from the scammer if you changed your phone number and did not post it anywhere online. What makes you think it was, since you did not answer it? Was it a Morocco ph#? [ +212...?]
Or was it just an unknown number from somewhere else?

Did you use a new email address when making the new FB account?

This Moroccan seems to be going through a lot of trouble to return to try and get money from a stone after 2 months.
You have an unusual one here.

Maybe this one friended one of your friends and might be blackmailing them or simply asked for the new number or new email address from one of them. You better warn all of your friends about that "pretty girl," and every other stranger approaching them and make sure they block them.
If you put your new number on your new account or on any other account they could have found it that way if your privacy settings were not cranked real tight, as tightly as you could, too.

Another thing about Facebook, is that you also have to depend on your friends to keep their own privacy settings tight, and not add unknown people, etc. And the more people in your FB, the less likely it is that all of them will treat their own FB accounts like you do.
If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.

There is no need to delete your other posts, as your identity is hidden here. This is also a good exchange that educates others that attention to every detail of the advice steps we give is important, so that there is a far less likely chance that the scammers can easily find you again if they feel particularly stupid and think that calling or any other contact after you disappeared will get them any money. The smallest opportunity you give them or your friends give them they may use to recontact you.

Chalk it up to another small mistake, change your number again, and get over it. ;)
