Thanks for the reply,
I’ve read the article but I’m just wondering if there’s ever been a case where the scammer has placed the victims photo on a random site without them knowing. Has there ever been a case like this out of the 20000+. Thanks that’s all I want to know.

Yes, they have but it's most likely on an upload site like youtube, dailymotion, etc. Nobody has ever posted a video on "The Ellen Degenaras Show" Facebook account. I have no idea how that particular person got picked, being openly gay. Any video can be taken down if you just write to the site's abuse@ dept. It's all explained here. viewtopic.php?f=20&t=580

One last thing, so judging by the amount of times the scammer has posted/spread on to other sites without the victim knowing. Would you say that the odds of this happening is still less than 0.1%?

One last thing... Don't spin your wheels here, if you have done all the steps to the letter, you are as safe as you can be.
So, with stop the "Whatifs?"

Yes, scammers do upload or loop the video, as that is their M.O. to scare the victim into paying. Google alerts can help find them if you do not have the link. That is what they are for. Just because they uploaded somewhere does not mean they will ever post it to anyone. I will get into no discussion of percentage of uploads to any sites, just the end results of doing our steps. And that is less than 0.1%. End of story.

ok, i understand that. Just do not let paranoia take over your life. Just learn from it, and live your life, a bit smarter.

Need Help I was just sextorted and I feel awful

Unread postby mistakenmeerkat » Fri Mar 13, 2020 5:47 pm

Last night I was slightly drunk and some lady added me on Snapchat. I was aroused and listened to her instructions including sending two naked pictures of my full body and face. Afterwards, she sent a picture of my Facebook friends and told me she would send them the pictures unless I gave $300. I ultimately in a frantic mood gave her (or actually him) $100 to a Filipino PayPal address. This person has since tried to contact me and I blocked them on all platforms possible including deactivating my Facebook and Twitter accounts and changing my name on my other accounts. They tried to add me back on Snapchat with a new account this morning, and I received two calls from unknown numbers since waking up (both of which I have blocked). I am terrified and really can't believe this is happening. I need some advice, wisdom, and support. Please someone help me I feel like this is the worst thing that's ever happened to me. I really appreciate any and all responses. Thanks.

How could they have gotten my phone # if I never gave it. I am not going to be able to change it, and Snapchat is the main way I interact with my friends, so deleting it would be really brutal for me. Am I running a huge risk of keeping it, even if I never open or reply to messages from unknown users?
