Scammers blackmailing people over webcam footage or photographs. Sometimes referred to as "sextortion". Your first port of call should be

I received two calls from unknown numbers since waking up (both of which I have blocked)
Change your number. They could have gotten it from another social account, or it is listed online somewhere.
Yes, if you do not follow the directions in the steps you are taking a huge risk. Your choice, we just state the facts. What you do with them is your own business.

First off, thank you so much for helping me. It means a lot that someone cares. I will delete and change my snapchat account, but I cannot change my own phone #.

I'm just curious, and I know these are not the questions you like hearing, but what are the odds that they actually post it. Like is it common, or more of a rarity for them to send the pictures onto friends?

It gives them HOPE that they can get you to answer and pay them again. So, if you cannot change your number, just do not answer unknown numbers.

Yes, but you must make all new accounts, using a brand new email address. Do not reuse any old account or reuse any information on those accounts; names, pictures, etc.

Ok I will definitely not reply to any unknown numbers. The one thing is I just got a text from a very official looking number with an LA area code. It is from the University that I am planning on attending and asks me specific questions about the school that I do not think the scammer would've been capable of coming up with on his own. Should I trust this number?
Also, how long should I wait until reactivating my accounts?
