I was just recently scammed by the same person! I was a little freaked out at first because of how real it seemed but I called him out, deactivated my Facebook and POF, also blocked his number. It's a Scam and just ignore. He hasn't replied or done anything since I did this which was 2 days ago now.

What steps, if any, have you already taken to block the scammer?: I've blocked phone numbers and deleted online dating apps. We didn't exchange last names, no social media accounts or email accounts were exchanged. I have changed privacy settings on Facebook and Instagram
Are there any other details you wish to share? Anything you say may help prevent someone else from being scammed.: I messaged a girl on okcupid 2 days ago. Her profile said she was 19 years old. I sent her a message saying "Hey, how's your night going?" to which she replied with small talk and then her phone number asking me to text her.

I text her and after a couple of minutes of small talk she said said she had some newer pictures if I wanted to see them. There was no indicator that these would be inappropriate, so I said sure, why not? She sends me two pictures of her in her underwear and asks for a picture of me. After these I asked again how old she was and she said she was 19. Foolishly I sent a full body clothed shot and she asked for something more interesting. I regret it, but I sent a d*ck pic to which she replied with full nudes. I then said "you're sexy, I'm tempted to ask you to meet up".

After this she stopped sending any messages and I sent a few more messages asking if she was still there, and gave up and told her to lose my number then I deleted her messages. The next evening I start receiving calls while I was at work from a number I didn't recognize, and also from her number. I ignored them due to being at work, but never got any texts or voicemails. A couple of hours later I get another call and answer it and the person said he was Investigator Dylan Harper from the VA State Police and immediately asked for my name and phone number. I replied with "if you're calling me you should already have my information". He said that he had been contacted by a gentleman saying that I had sent his 16 year old daughter nude photographs and I was in possession of child pornography of his daughter. He said I could be facing charges of possession of child pornography, exposing myself to a minor, and soliciting a minor for sex.

He then explained to me that the father, Mr. Knight, hadn't yet filed charges against me and had asked if I'd be willing to speak with him on the phone. I was pretty freaked out at this point so I agreed. He ended the call with me and said I'd be hearing from the girl's father shortly. Around a half hour to an hour later I get a call from the girl's phone number from presumably the father. He spoke in a fairly southern accent, but that's not uncommon where I live and he referred to me as "sir" and "son" quite a bit. He told me that he knew I had been texting inappropriately with his 16 year old daughter and that his wife is ready to have me locked up, but him being a God fearing man he wanted to hear my side.

I apologized and told my side of the story telling him that I had no idea his daughter was underage and practically begged him to not press charges. He eventually offered the idea of me paying the cost of damages that occurred to his home and belongings when his daughter flipped out. Among those were a cell phone, a laptop, and various damages to doors, etc... He said he would discuss with his wife and call back.

10-15 minutes went by and he calls back and said his wife agreed to not press charges if I would pay $1200 for her laptop and agree to never contact his family again. I agreed to that and he said he'd call me this morning to arrange payment after he had spoken to a family friend to see if they'd receive payment since he didn't want me to have his personal info.

This morning I received a call and text message from the daughter's number saying that I should call him ASAP to "discuss the matter at hand". About an hour later I get another text saying that he and his wife would be filing charges and that I wasn't the honest man he thought I was. A little while later I got a few calls from another number I didn't recognize and didn't answer.

The numbers I've been contacted from are:
540-242-1529 (Investigator Dylan Harper)
540-407-8192 (the daughter's number/Mr. Knight)
540-251-2864 (4 missed calls back to back that I didn't answer and may or may not be related to this)

I attempted to reverse search the phone numbers, but didn't get very far with that. Later today I asked a friend to call the numbers and the Investigator number went straight to a generic voicemail, the daughter's phone number went to a recording saying "thank you" and beeping, and the unknown number went straight to just beeping. I'm pretty sure this whole mess is a scam, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit on-edge and anxious about it.

Since this morning, I haven't received any other calls or texts and I've updated my social media privacy settings and deleted my online dating accounts. I plan to further ignore any calls and texts that I don't recognize.

Tyler Brooks - meetme

Unread postby JLC23 » Fri Sep 29, 2017 6:16 am

What name did the scammer use?: Tyler Brooks
Scammer's phone number(s): (281) 672-9102, and (704) 418-1322
How old did the scammer say they were?: 18, after texting for a while they said they were almost 17.
What site/app did you first meet the scammer on? .: meetme
If they asked you to leave the site/app , where did they take you to?: Cell Phone Texting. Cell number (281) 672-9102.
I was on the site meetme and stumbled upon a guy by the name of Tyler Brooks, to my knowledge his account is still active on the site. He claimed to be from Houston Texas. We began chatting and because the app drains my phone so quickly I asked if he would rather use snapchat or text, to which he said text. We began texting, and I sent him a selfie. A few hours later he said, "by the way, I am about to be 17 in a few weeks", to which I told him that we could only talk as friends and that nothing more could come out of this. He agreed so we began talking about what college he would like to attend and what he wanted to study. But he kept trying to bring up sex, he would claim how he was having sex with older men and I just kept reminding him that he had to keep things pg. to which he would say "I know, I know". Then one morning he began talking about masterbating, I again reminded him to stop and keep things pg and that we couldn't talk like that. Again "I know, I know". Next thing I know he sends a d*ck pic. I immediately delete it, but did not block him. Hours later I get a call from him and send it to voice mail and text him that I was unable to talk, I got a responding text message. The text was from his "father" saying how his son was going to need psychiatric help and needed to be institutionalized, also how he had destroyed the house and that the mother was pissed. He said how I was going to be in trouble and that he didn't want to report it to the police but "I will do what I got to do". I responded to him saying I told his son to keep things pg, and that I was blocking the contact. He responded that I needed to have consequences for my irresponsibility. I never responded. The next morning I get woken up by the North Carolina number (704) 418-1322, I send it to voicemail because it's 7:00am and I wanna sleep. None the less I get a voicemail claiming the man is a hired private investigator who needs to speak with me about my involvement with a child and to call him back asap. I decided instead to block his number and figure out the situation myself. First I went to my sister and her husband, my brother in law called the man back and explained clearly that if this situation really is real, the minor is the one who will be in trouble. In the Supreme Court Case State vs. Eg (2017) the supreme court ruled that a minor who sends a nude photo of themselves to an adult is distributing child pornography and is a felony charge. Along with the fact that the minor created a profile on an 18+ site. And attempted to entice an adult. The private investigator denied the law and obviously didn't know what he was talking about claiming that the child would only get in trouble for having a fake profile. What also made me curious was, why would a North Carolina investigator pick up a Texas case, he also must not be aware of Texas laws. Nor was he aware that if the son was truly needing psychiatric help (which was in the text message) the court would deem him mentally unstable and possibly throw the case out due to this. We next visited a family member who is a local police officer to explain the situation, only thing he could say was I didn't have to answer any questions from a private investigator and that it is his job to investigate, so let him do so... basically f#ck him. And to only go in for questioning if it is my local police department and have my lawyer present. Lastly I spoke with a family lawyer who deals with these cases, who explained I had nothing to worry about because I didn't ask for nude photographs, I never tried to meet, and I never sent one of myself. A few hours later I found this site and learned about this groups doings. I have to say that it was a very true wake up call, no pun intended... I have since deleted my meetme profile and am very careful about who I talk to. This happened Sept 24th-27th so very recently, so please be aware that this group is still on meetme. It can have a mental, and physical impact on a person and for those who send money a financial. I can't help but think there might be a person out there who finds themselves in this situation and ends up taking their own life because they believe it is all real, not that these prisoners would care, they are just seeking money. I have not received any more calls and do not expect to.

This person, Richard Mcdonald, tried to scam me too. He used the same picture but the name she used was Keli instead of Karen. So how's the person who reported this so far? I know this was a scam but then it really scared me.
