If they asked you to leave the site , where did they take you to?: Skype
How much money did they demand?: $500
What steps, if any, have you already taken to block the scammer?: Blocked them on Skype. Changed my Skype info and password, deleted my contacts on skype, changed my email password, deactivated my facebook and reported the video they posted.

I've had exactly the same experience. I followed exactly the same steps you did.

I have since deleted Skype, twitter and anything associated with my name.

A video was loaded onto Facebook but was removed after I complained about it within seconds.

There is literally no way I can be contacted now.

I'm not going to pay any money - and if it does resurface it is something I will just have to deal with. There are worse things going on in the world after all.

Have you had any issues since they attempted to blackmail you?

No one from this thread has come back to say the scammer recontacted them. In fact, out of the thousands who have followed our steps, we've only ever had 3 instances of the scammer doing anything after those 2 weeks are up.

How often have you had cases where friends have been contacted if they didn't take the steps you suggested?

I actually have - by instinct more than anything else. But I'm just curious how many cases you have come across where these videos have been leaked?

Most of the times the video is posted as part of the initial scam. It's important to understand the difference in them posting it to show they have it and posting it after the scam. Very few repost it once it's been flagged and deleted. Certainly less than 10 of them did.

I know it's an impossible question to answer, but if anyone is likely to have an answer it is you guys…. how long would you presume they would keep the material?
