so it happened to me too, i wish i knew this site before hand

you all know the story, talking to a "girl" who says to do *EXPLICIT* and you do it and "she" records it.

this is where my story goes different:
this person *Jazzy Brooks" decided to post it direct to my wall and then threatened to post it to my mom as well
i immediately deleted the link and blocked "her" on skype and facebook
luckily i set up my moms facebook so i hoped on it and blocked "her" on that too
I got another threat from "Jazzy Brooks", but no blackmail demand, saying that the video was posted on youtube.

Just jokingly said "that wont be the first time my business was on the internet"
logged off and havent heard back

i think i avoided it, but i am ready to explain to any friends who might stumble across it, but im not too concerned....unfortunately im guessing this person has moved on to the next person

A tip that I found online is to set up a Google Alert with your name, itll warn you if you're name turns up online and you can probably beat your friends to it and get it shut down...

Moral of the story, be careful and dont trust "JAZZIE BROOKS"

nismofreak,

I'm sorry to hear that you were scammed. :( Thanks for posting details of the scammer and taking the time to warn others. If you have not read two of our most informational topics here, you may want to read them.

Have been Blackmailed, what do I do?

There is good advice there on stopping all contact and mitigating any damage that they threaten to do to you.
Being silent and not paying them is most important. Google alerts which will tell you if any new personal information shows up, nice point there. After awhile of no response and difficulty getting to you, they will move on. If you have other details like pictures, phone numbers, emails, or any other specific information that can be googled by other victims or potential victims please post them here. Thanks. :)

If you would like to help us learn how to best fight these kinds of criminals, would you go to this topic and answer a few questions there?

You may also PM your answers to a Moderator or the Admin, Wayne, if you feel too uncomfortable posting in the public forum. We just want to get a better handle on how they operate, etc. And as usual, we never ask for any member's real name or any personal details. We are only interested in the scammers' details.
These kinds of scams seem to be increasing, and we want to seriously look at the problem, help the victims of blackmailing scammers, and try to find ways of battling them.
If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.

Hello, gillan17,

Do you have other details about this one? Username on skype, maybe email adress? Where "she" expect to receive the money? If you do, please, post them. Every single detail can save other potential victim.

Sorry for this bad experience. As you already see, being minor dont stop the scammers. Maybe is a good idea if you try to protect yourself better online and never forget: everything what you do or post online can be sometime used in other ways that you would like...

You are not scammed "by her". Her pictures are stolen and used for scam.
Help yourself by helping others - report your scammer here.
Google can be your best friend;use it if you have doubts about someone met online. If someone met online only asks for money, no matter what reason, it´s 100% scam.

The person then proceeded to tell me to do all these links for their webcam sites and do what they wanted or else they would send it to tv networks YouTube and Facebook. i did the first 2 and they wanted me to do a third and i was fed up with everything so i logged off of Skype and called the sites and got my money back. i don't know what to do at this point does anyone have and help?

Hi ITP,
Sorry you were blackmailed. See the blackmail forum for more info but the standard advice we give is to break ALL contact with the scammer. They can only effect you if you read their threats. Block them on any websites you've been on together and Friended. Google your name a few times a day and if you see your listed at undesireable sites ask the Website to remove the video or whatever. I'm sure I'm forgetting something like telling your family about it if there's a chance they have any of your Real Life friends or relatives available.

Welcome to SS. There's a lot of helpers here.
