Better to use a name scammer will not guess. And not exact name as one scammer knows. And Not same FB pictures either. Make them all private.

You said to change the facebook profile picture after creating new account but what if new profile picture still shows you? What is the difference? And how do you make a profile picture private? I thought it's public?

It's pretty damn hard for a scammer to search and find a new picture of you posted online that he does not already possess to use in a search, is it not?
And he cannot find you by name, just how is he going to see the new picture on it?
 :ugeek:
And if should accidentally bump into the new profile of yours that you have made pretty near impossible to find in the first place, do you think he would remember your face after seeing 1,000 faces a month?

I got you but why you say reactivating facebook profile is fine after deactivation period if you change profile photo and username? If so compromised why suggest it in your steps? Why just say never reactivate and create new one? Do you know of case where scammer coming back to reactivated profile? You know very hard to add hundreds old friends again.

If you are pretty damn sure that scammer does not know your real name or facebook, and you stopped the scam before he was able to finish his threats it may be ok to reactivate the old one with changed details, however, most of the time this is not the case, and most victims want to do everything necessary not to expose themselves further.

Do you know of case where scammer coming back to reactivated profile? You know very hard to add hundreds old friends again.

Yes, it does happen with some persistent scammers, That's why we say "the best thing is to create a new facebook."
Sure it takes time to add hundreds of friends to a new facebook, but the choice is yours. You got yourself into this mess, We just advise the best way to get you out with the least chance of any more damage. Do it or not. It's your life.

I believe you should go back and spend the time to read all the links I posted to you in this topic, and maybe you will understand better.

Hey SlapHappy,
I hear your advice loud and clear. I read hundreds of posts on your site. I just can't wrap around head how creating a new facebook account with new details is different from reactivate account with new details. Why do you say if hacker doesn't know your actual name or details it may be ok to reactivate account? Both sound like same exposure to hacker. I think no facebook account is the best. I do not question your expertise, I respect you. All I want to know is exactly how hacker can target again using information from reactivated account that hacker cannot from new account. I think many people ask you this question cause some have social life and would like to keep old account than create new account. You say 99.99% after 2/4/6 week wait is virtually no chance but if hacker come back to old account afterwards, should you just say 50% or 80% chance if you don't create new account? Why not write that in your steps? I try to be helpful. I promise this is final post. Could you send me link of previous post who ask like this?

And why you say if scammer doesn't know your actual name and facebook, it's ok? Doesn't everyone have facebook account with real name, is that why you say change name and profile? And stop threat means deactivate, no money given?

Nando, you are killing me!! - with regurgitation of same question

I get rid of facebook for ever. And, my social life is better. After quitting facebook, I realized how immoral and unethical the whole scam of facebook is. Anyone can create a fake profile there. Just for the sake of money, the way they let russians run fake news during american election make me wonder a lot of things. They can block any ISP once fake profile is evident from that ISP. They have billions of dollars but still 83 million fake profiles are active. Seriously!!!!!!

Try your life without facebook, it is 100 times more serene.
