Greed

I am new to this website but I think one very important aspect of the whole scamming world is that many of the victims become victims because of greed. If they didn't get carried away with the illusion of getting millions of dollars from some dead rich people, they would never have been scammed.

You are wrong, spaceman02.

Not all the online scams are about receiving huge amounts of money. The devastating ones are targeting the basic human feelings and the scammers are good in turning against the victims their own emotions. It is no greed in a charity scam, when the victim is trying to help someone in need. No greed when a victim is searching for a life partner. No greed when the victim is lured in being protective with a child the scammer claims to have while being unable to take care of that child.

It is easy to be judgmental when you have never experienced something similar, directly or through someone you care about. Most of the people blaming victims for being victims have no idea how good some scammers are in discovering the weaknesses in people and exploiting those weaknesses. None of us is perfect. All of us are doing mistakes. In the real life, we spend years learning how to deal with everything around - and it is always someone near us, in the first years, showing us how to do it. The internet is just another world with different rules. It is no one out there to take care of us if we don't do it ourselves. Some of us are lucky, learning from other people mistakes. Others are learning on the hard way, after personal bad experiences.

From our point of view, anyone can be a victim of an online scam. It is enough to be vulnerable and online in the same time, without being aware about the danger. For each and every one of us it may be a scam somewhere online. The only way to avoid being scammed is education. As long as a person knows how the scams works that person can avoid being a victim.
Help yourself by helping others - report your scammer here.
Google can be your best friend;use it if you have doubts about someone met online. If someone met online only asks for money, no matter what reason, it´s 100% scam.

Is "victim greed" also involved in a job scam, a business to business scam, a phishing scam, a blackmail scam/sextortion, a product scam, a puppy scam, a credit card skimming scam, a website breach and bank account or medical records stolen scam, an IRS or court telephone scam, or a "grandparent scam?" NO.

You need to do your research before you post hasty generalizations from ignorant sources.
Just reading what we have in our media section on the forum may convince you that your statement is a false assertion.
If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.
