Scammers are constantly contacting former scam victims, pretending to offer grants as a compensation for the money lost.

Here is an example of a fake website used in such type of fraud.

Since November 11 when the fraudulent domain name was created, almost 80 people were targeted in this scam.

The fraudsters pretend to be The United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC), using a fake website active from the domain name uncompensation.org.

The real United Nations has no connection with the fraudsters impersonating them online.

From the fake website:

The United Nations Compensation Commission (UNCC) was created in 1991 as a subsidiary organ of the UN Security Council with a mandate to process claims and pay compensation for losses and damage suffered as a direct result of unforeseen circumstances all around the world. That includes Scam and so forth. Such losses and damage had been confirmed by the Security Council in several of its resolutions, the UNCC mainly had a fact-finding task, namely to establish for each claim whether or not the damage. The UNCC is a claims commission rather than an international court or tribunal. The jurisdiction of the Commission is fairly innovative for international law standards, both in terms of who can claim for damages (including individuals and corporations) as well as the types of damage covered (including environmental damages). In total, the Commission received approximately 2.7 million claims seeking approximately US$352.5 billion in compensation for death, injury, loss of or damage to property, commercial claims such as Scam victims as well.

Deadlines were established for the filing of the various categories of claims. After the expiration of these deadlines, the Governing Council, on the basis of certain criteria it established, accepted a number of claims for late-filing from individuals who had not been able to file their claims during the regular filing period. Kindly find your names and country of Residence to acknowledge your claims.

Contact details:

info@uncompensation.org

The victim's names and country of residence are posted openly on the fake website and the victims are contacted by email about the grant. The scammers asks the victims to check if they are on the list as a proof they are eligible. After establishing the trust this way, the victims will be asked to pay upfront fees for receiving the non-existent grant.
