Unread postby firefly » Sat Feb 20, 2021 8:55 am

The scammers are abusing stolen photos of a real captain of Celebrity Cruise, Dimitrios Kafetzis, known online as Captain Tasos. The real captain is married and he is not searching for love online.

His stolen pictures are used with fake profiles on dating sites and social media.

Captain Dave Tyler
I am captain Dave and a marine engineer by profession and I work with different companies around the world, I love traveling, been entertained, fun to be with.

The scammers contact the victims online and move the conversation on phone apps or email. The "captain" is traveling and his Internet will always be not good enough for a video or voice call.

When they are not targeting women in romance scams, they are targeting men in gold scams. There are also reports about the scammer pretending to be gay while playing the same romance scenario on men as well.

The basic story is that his ship will have a damage and that will happen in an area infested with pirates. For not losing everything he has, the "captain" will suggest sending the victim a parcel with his belongings.

The fake courier used for this claims to be Courierserve Dispatch & Logistics - courierserve.com.

The parcel will get blocked by customs and the victims will be asked to paid fees after fees for receiving it.
