HappyGrandma,
Usually the pictures are stolen from the real owner social accounts.
We saw cases of real people having their stolen pictures used in similar scams getting harassed by victims unwilling to believe that the real person in those picture is not part of the scam.
In other cases, victims engaged in long time online relationships with scammers using the stolen pictures were trying to establish the same type of romantic relationship with the real owner of the stolen pictures used, ignoring the fact that the real person may already have a life.
The ones we notified about their pictures being stolen and used in fraud were appalled and upset, but sadly, there is not much they can do to stop it. Even if the real owner of the stolen pictures used in scam deletes their account, once used in scam the pictures will be re-used again and again.
Anything posted online can be re-used in fraud.
Help yourself by helping others - report your scammer here.Google can be your best friend;use it if you have doubts about someone met online. If someone met online only asks for money, no matter what reason, it´s 100% scam.
