The scammer pretends to be Dr. Bernardo Carlo on Facebook:

One of his victims even contacted the US Embassy in India on Facebook, asking for help:

Mr. Ambassador. You should also worry about American citizens traveling to India. In new delhi on February 25, Dr. Bernardo Carlo was assaulted. They stole all his documents and suitcases. They also left him badly hurt and has gone through some surgeries. Due to the ineffciency of the embassy, ​​the citizen has not been able to return to his country. Almost 2 months have passed and the embassy does not do its job. They do not give him a solution and they do not comply with his policy of helping to repatriate a citizen who has been a victim of crime in Nuevo delhi. Mr. Ambassador, your intervention.

Another victim contacted US officials on Twitter:

Urgent assistance of the Embassy is required with Dr. Bernardo Carlo.The doctor was a victim of crime in New Delhi on February 25. They were checked and suitable and other documents in the clinic of the airport for which on Monday was interruptly intervened by a fracture in leg.
Since the doctor was victim of crime, the embassy must intervene and help repatriate the doctor to your country with a humanitarian visa.


Note: both victims are not native English speakers.

Translating: the scammer extorted money from the first victim for two months pretending to be a victim of an assault. The second victim was paying an entire month for bogus surgeries and medical interventions.

During the scam he claims to have his money in a bank account with a fake Bank of America website, active from the fraudulent domain name boalgroups.online.

While asking for financial help, he shows the bogus bank account to the victims, as a proof that he can pay back the money he is asking for. Because he is traveling abroad, he also pretends that he cannot access his bank account.
