viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50138&start=70, where the fake site used in scam is reported.
The victim met the scammer online. After developing a relationship with the victim, the scammer claimed he will send a parcel for the victim. The delivery company asked for an upfront payment. The victim sent money to a bank account of a so called friend of the fake persona she met online. Sadly, the victim deleted all the messages received from the scammer, keeping only the pictures he was using and his phone number. She wishes to find the man in the picture with the hope that she will be able to recover the lost money after she finds him.
The reality is: she will never find him. Those pictures are stolen and the real owner of the pictures has nothing to do with the scam.
The only option left in such cases is "follow the money". The victim need to fill a complaint with the local police, ask for a case number and with that number she needs to contact her bank and ask the bank to trace the money she sent. The information should be added to the police report and only in this case something can be done. Even if that happens, the money will most likely be long gone from the bank account of the receiver, but at least the authorities will know who is the person involved in the transaction and working for the scammer.
