MUNFORD, TN (WMC) -
John and Lisa Robinson’s lives have changed significantly since they announced they had won the Powerball on the Today Show Thursday.
The couple was one of three winners in the record-breaking $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot.
The Munford, Tennessee, couple is now asking for privacy after choosing to take the lump sum of nearly $328 million.
"We're common people,” John Robinson said. “We're just like y'all are.”
A security guard escorted Lisa back to her job as she returned to work at the Memphis Dermatology Clinic. She declined all interviews.
With their new fortune has come an unwanted backlash—scammers.
The website johnandlisagiveback.com has been shared all around social media by people believing the Robinsons will be handing out their cash.
The cybercrimes division with the Memphis Police Department said they are not currently investigating the case, but the Better Business Bureau is warning the public about Powerball scams.
You should never open links from unknown web sources and never give your personal information over unsecured sites offering money—do not fall for this scam!
Meanwhile, the Robinsons said they plan to stay in their Munford home and get comfortable with their newly acquired millions. As of yet, they have no plans to spread the wealth on social media.
