I seem to be a magnet for these scammers at the moment, but I've spotted a trend. Many of the ones that have been contacting me claiming to be US servicemen appear to come from the same small area of Scotland, UK. They often have little or no profile information though there are exceptions, occasionally there is a profile picture. The most recent one, whose grammar and spelling was pretty lousy, gave the name Stephen Lopez. He uses two pictures which I have added here;





He claims to be a widower, with a young daughter 'Kellie'. He says he has a home in Texas and another in Scotland as his mother happens to be Scottish.

Do you have the email address he is using? Details from the profile used by him online? Emails you received from him? If yes, can you post those here, please? Do not forget to remove any details about yourself before posting. Your info about this one may save someone else soon.

He claims to have homes in Glasgow, Scotland stating that his mother was Sctottish, that his other home is in Texas, USA. His father was Spanish/American and lived in Lewisville, Texas. He claimed both his parents are deceased and that he has no siblings. Unfortunately the profile he used on match.com has been deleted so I'm not able to provide any of the information he might have used. I've found though that a great many of these so called 'americans in Scotland' are showing up as being in Fairley, and other pretty remote parts of Scotland, quite often they claim to be Italia or Spanish before the story starts to develop into the US serviceman with an Italian/Spanish father, British mother.

The pictures are reported online for being abused in scams since 2010. Some of the email addresses used with the same fake identity: sgtlopez67@yahoo.com, ser.lopez00@yahoo.com and lopez45g@yahoo.com.

The name on the uniform is Woods in some pictures and Lopez in other ones - edited by the scammers in Photoshop to fit with the fake character used.

Amazing, I was just doing the same thing myself, running the images of these two guys I got messages from through google images but this one is everywhere!! .. all over the world with various names .. its getting to the point where I am now googling pretty much any guy that messages me so glad this website is here <3
